In photos: Cairo International Women’s Film Festival

The Cairo International Women’s Film Festival showcases dozens of international and Arab films by female directors and dealing with gender inequality every year. Over six days, the 2016 edition of the festival was an immense showcase of creativity, skill and international solidarity of female film makers from around the world.

The 2016 edition of the festival included a special focus on Danish films and IMS supported the festival through the Danish Arab Partnership Programme with visits from Danish directors Annette K Olesen, known for her engagement in the Danish dogma film movement, Iben Haahr Andersen and Lone Falster, directors of the documentary In Light of the Revolution, and Lea Hjort Mathiesen, director of the captivating Malek means Angel. The award-winning Iranian-Danish Sepideh by Danish director Berit Madsen was also screened at the festival.
