The status of women journalists in Jordan’s media institutions

This study aims to identify the circumstances for women journalists in Jordan’s print, online, TV and radio media. It focuses specifically on violations and gender-based discrimination in the work place and harassment outside office. The study also surveyed trust in complaints systems and examined women journalists̕  self-evaluation of how gender impacts their career development and how satisfied they are with their job as journalists. The study concluded that women face hindrances driven by gender-based discrimination that have limited their number and restricted their prospects of professional development. Less than 23% in Jordanian media are women and leadership positions are heavily dominated by men.
