Haiti Grassroots Watch

Haiti Grassroots Watch (Ayiti Kale Je), an organisation producing text, audio and video about the aid and reconstruction efforts in Haiti in an effort to monitor or “watchdogging” spending and progress – or the lack of it – is calling for support from organisations and individuals willing to support their existence financially

The organisation which is an innovative partnership of two Haitian organisations — Groupe Medialternatif/Alterpresse and the Society for the Animation of Social Communication (SAKS) — along with students from the Faculty of Human Sciences at the State University of Haiti and members of the network of women community radio broadcasters (REFRAKA) and the Association of Haitian Community Media (AMEKA), works to produce news stories for people in Haitian Creole, French and English about reconstruction efforts, highlighting the challenges facing local communities and giving a voice to the Haitian population.

In 2012, Haiti Grassroots Watch formed part of IMS’ support for investigative journalism in Haiti, but the organisation is now in need of additional funds for survival.
