Egyptian and Danish media establish close ties in a time of emerging democracy

As Egyptian voters exited the voting booths fingers covered in blue ink, Danish radio covered the election live from Cairo as part of IMS’ efforts to establish professional ties between Danish and Arab media

Supported by International Media Support (IMS), the Danish radio show “Pressen på P3” is in Cairo all week to cover the democratic landmark that is Egypt’s first free elections in 30 years.

Broadcasting from the popular online radio station Horytna (Our Freedom) run by youth activists, the Danish radio show endeavors to bring the Egyptian election closer to the Danish listeners, while establishing close professional ties with their Egyptian colleagues.

Bringing media professionals from Denmark and the Arab world together is a part of IMS’ so-called twinning project. A similar round of twinning took place in 2010 when Horytna partnered with Danish radio “den2radio” to exchange experiences, gain new ideas and inspiration.

“Pressen på P3” live from Cairo is available online every day this week from 15-18 CET in Danish. Read more and listen here.
