As Lebanese women, the revolution is our opportunity

Women played an enormous role in the anti-government protests known as the Lebanese “October Revolution” with up to a million people taking to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with what they see as an ingrained, failing system. In this video, the independent digital media platform Daraj demonstrates the importance of women participation in the strive towards societal changes and shines a lights on their role as front runners in these developments – even despite the many obstacles they face in a country where women’s rights and gender equality are constantly challenged.

"We have been hearing expressions such as: 'The revolution is female' and 'Women are the most beautiful thing about our revolution'. These sentiments did not come from a void; They are the result of the tremendous presence of Lebanese women in all of the squares."
