Meaning? Training can cover many fields of activity, from occasional workshops to long term on-the-job mentoring. In the field of communication, Media Support firmly believes that only long term training is effective in influencing working practices.

How? If broadcasters are to be trained in scriptwriting, conflict-sensitive journalism, production techniques etc, workshops are held at regular intervals to ensure that good practice is understood and that lessons stick.

Capacity building in management can involve courses for field staff, but more important is the guidance given on a day-to-day basis by MSS staff in Scotland, by email and phone.
