Documentary shows attacks on journalists during Gaza offensive

In the summer of 2014, Israel launched a military offensive on Gaza. A documentary by the Ramallah-based press freedom group Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) details the impact of the attacks on Palestinian journalists.

The documentary features accounts from some of the Palestinian journalists and cameramen who were present in Gaza during the offensive between 8 July and 26 August 2014. It follows the release of a report detailing the impact of the summer 2014 offensive.

Warning: Very graphic images.

According to the documentary, 17 journalists were killed during the period of the attacks. That would make it the single deadliest period for journalists in the history of the Palestinian media. The figures are difficult to corroborate due to a lack of secondary sources, but the U.S.-based press freedom group Committee to Protect Journalists counts four journalists and three media workers killed in the same period.
