Arabian Nights

Arabian Nights brings you two weeks of captivating documentaries and fiction films and exciting events with guests from from across the Arab world for a series of talks, debates and workshops.

The festival is hosted by the Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen and supported by NASIM and International Media Support.

Arabian Nights runs from 19 August – 4 September at the Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen. Tickets are available from Cinemateket here.

IMS supports the event ‘Giving a voice to Syrian’ refuges on 19 August, a debate and Q&A session with documentary filmmaker Yasmin Fedda, following the screening of her film ‘Queens of Syria’. Yasmin Fedda is an award winning documentary filmmaker whose films have been BAFTA nominated and screened at Sundance. Fedda is a cofounder of Highlight Arts, an organisation that works with artists in times of conflict. Read more about the event here.

On 23 August, IMS supports the event ‘What roads lie ahead for Algeria?’, a talk by author Rasmus Alenius Boserup followed by a screening of the historical film ‘The Man from Oran’ (Algeria/France 2014) by Algerian director and scriptwriter Lyes Salem. Salem’s short film, Cousines, received France’s César award for Best Short Film in 2005. As an actor, he has appeared in a number of films, including ‘Alex’, ‘Banlieue 13’ and ‘L’Ecole de la Chair’.
